About The Project
Shreeja India’s Football and Beyond programme unites vulnerable girls and children from marginalized communities, minority groups, and general castes in a safe space where they are empowered, unconditionally accepted, and encouraged to engage in intercultural dialogue.
In a diverse society like India where caste, gender, race and religion-based discrimination is still pervasive, Shreeja India uses football as a developmental tool and integrates it with education, mental wellness, social awareness, informed imagination and skill development interventions. This holistic approach empowers girls and facilitates access to basic education, nutrition, health and livelihood opportunities within communities.
Moreover, this innovative model challenges gender norms, caste and creed; fosters team building; builds confidence; and promotes diversity and inclusion in sports and in the community. The programme equips and empowers participants with foundational knowledge to educate first-generation learner children in villages, while also enabling them to lead social action initiatives that promote a diverse and inclusive society.
