About The Project
Itinerant Travelling Cinema aims to ensure high-quality audiovisual content for audiences in remote areas in Guatemala and other countries in the region.
The project screens relevant films and documentaries in rural and vulnerable urban communities, where residents have limited access to such materials, although they may well be at the center of these stories. Each viewing is followed by panel discussions with local residents, with the purpose of generating inclusive dialogue, encouraging meaningful conversations, and raising awareness about social, environmental, racial, and gender-based inequities.
Thanks to this initiative, places that once had little or no media coverage, now have access to independent film productions and a platform to amplify their voices. Likewise, they can benefit from the creation of safe spaces for dialogue celebrating diversity, freedom of speech, and multiculturalism.
Itinerant Travelling Cinema is nothing without its audiences, without stories to tell, and those desiring to tell them: pertinent voices, diverse and powerful creators, who take on such issues as identity-based conflict, inequality, racism, and other pressing and timely themes.
