About The Project
Kicken ohne Grenzen uses football to bring together young refugees from different backgrounds and offers them a place to belong and participate. The programme focuses on personal development and encourages participants to recognize and build on their strengths in order to increase their self-esteem and resilience.
To date, the project has organized more than 500 open football activities focused on social participation, diversity and youth leadership, providing long-term support to over 1,200 young people. Through its participatory approach, the initiative empowers youth affected by discrimination, enhancing their social skills, such as perseverance and self-esteem. The active experience of self-efficacy, alongside opportunities for dialogue and participation, fosters greater social cohesion within the group and the wider community.
Upon completing the programme, Youth Leaders are equipped to implement community-based sports initiatives themselves, ultimately becoming role models for social cohesion. Since 2015, over 50 Youth Leaders have been trained, many of whom remain engaged in in various projects to this day.
