About The Project

SWANS supports German-raised female academics from immigrant families, Black women, and women of color (BIWoC) by providing opportunities for them to get the jobs they have earned and deserve.

The organization offers workshops on career-related topics such as leadership, negotiation, and job application training, along with a volunteer-based support system. To this end, they also offer a range of capacity-building resources, including webinars, coaching, career advice, and an application consultation.

SWANS built a platform to support a community of over 1,000 “swans” from all German-speaking countries, where they benefit from access to resources and information about vacancies, scholarships, and relevant events. Through this network, they can further empower and support each other.

The idea is to encourage women facing intersectional systemic discrimination to stand up for themselves, raise their aspirations, and empower them to take up room and demand a seat at the table.
