About The Project
Fundación Semilla’s WAYNA uses participatory game-based learning to help students develop emotional literacy, strengthen empathy, and value diversity — creating more inclusive schools across Chile’s public education system.
WAYNA promotes inclusion by helping students recognize and value diversity. Students play through familiar situations, step into perspectives different from their own, and confront biases that emerge through play.
WAYNA is a six-game education programme organized as a progressive learning pathway. While each game can be used independently, the full set sequentially develops emotional literacy, empathy, and appreciation of diversity, helping students engage in dialogue, deepen their understanding of others, and build mutual respect.
Fundación Semilla works closely with the public education system to adapt their methodology, train educators, and enhance their capacity to use it effectively. In the next phase, the programme will focus on supporting the inclusion needs of migrant, neurodivergent, gender-diverse students, and students with disabilities in school communities.
Recognized as one of the world’s five leading pedagogical practices for global citizenship education in 2019, the project has expanded to Colombia where the education ministry is using its games to train its teachers.
