About The Project

Chintan focuses on ensuring equitable and sustainable production and consumption of materials, and improved disposal of waste. The project aims to create green jobs, security and dignity for the urban poor, many of whom earn a living as waste pickers. It does this by launching recycling projects in offices; employee volunteering programs in waste pickers’ slums; support a waste picker initiatives in schools and many other meeting points through recycling and visiting each other’s living and working environments.

The innovative project targets the waste pickers’ population on the rise both in India and globally. Chintan does not only create opportunities for waste pickers and the community but encourages integration with more privileged citizens, creating communities that support understanding between diverse cultural groups.
