About The Project
ComiX4= Comics for Equality promotes intercultural awareness and education citizenship by engaging migrants and second generations in Europe in the artistic representation of their migration experiences. The project started in November 2012 thanks to the support of the European Union and the collaboration among Africa e Mediterraneo and 4 partners from Bulgaria (WCIF), Estonia (MONDO), Latvia (GRAFISKIE STASTI) and Romania (ARCA), as well as two associate partners from Italy (Hamelin Associazione) and Bulgaria (Multi Kulti Collective).
ComiX4= Comics for Equality granted the first European Award for the best comics by authors with migrant backgrounds. They received 56 comics by 41 comic artists from 21 EU countries during the selection process that included beautiful stories on stereotypes, stories of migration and anti-racism. These comics are now a foundational component of a didactic kit composed of a comic catalogue and an intercultural education handbook that is freely downloadable on their website. Several exhibitions have also been displayed all over Europe showing the best comics of the Award, and their kit is in use for workshops attended by youth in Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Romania and Italy.
