About The Project
Plain Ink develops bright, engaging and captivating books that tell original stories with a strong multi-cultural focus. Stories are carefully drafted with real-life characters resembling the target migrant and non-migrant children, they are designed around their local customs to promote empathy, intercultural understanding, interaction and literacy. The books are composed by migrants themselves, along with psychologists, teachers, mediators and journalists.
The books are sold and proceeds from sales are invested into free educational comics and other materials in the countries of origin of immigrants. The focus of these comics includes teaching the basics of disease prevention, food security or natural disaster mitigation which is vital information for children and their families, through methods that are visually appealing and easy to understand.
